Dr. Karen Raymond holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Virginia Tech. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Guilford College and a Master’s degree in counseling from North Carolina A&T State University. Before returning to work on her PhD, Dr. Raymond worked for ten years providing counseling services in agency and private practice settings. Additionally, she has over seven years of experience working in a hospital setting providing crisis assessment in the psychiatric emergency department. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and is board certified as a National Certified Counselor. Dr. Raymond has four years of teaching experience at Virginia Tech, Radford University, and Wake Forest University. Her dissertation research was a Delphi study to define compassion in the counseling profession. In addition to research, counseling, and teaching, Dr. Raymond is active in regional and national professional counseling associations.
