Jacob R. Weiss, M.D., is a second year resident physician in psychiatry at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia, where he was recipient of the Frank S. Trani Memorial School of Medicine Scholarship for merit in psychiatry. His current clinical interests include the intersection of medicine and psychiatry, psychiatric treatment of underserved populations, schizophrenia spectrum illness and antipsychotic medications, substance use disorders, and neuropsychiatry. He is a member of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, and American Psychiatric Association. He has published multiple abstracts and presented at local and national conferences on topics of clozapine and electroconvulsive therapy, status epilepticus in schizophrenia and comorbid seizure disorder, lithium-induced extrapyramidal symptoms, and depression and anxiety in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In the future, he plans to complete a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry while continuing to pursue his research interests and engage in medical student education.
