Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine
My name is Christina Caviasco and I am a second year medical student at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. I majored in Cell and Molecular Neuroscience and minored in Anthropology at Fordham University. During my premedical studies, I created the Bronx Chapter of Volunteers Around the World and served as president, leading short-term mission trips to Albania and Peru to provide rural medical care with local physicians. My thesis project was completed at Albert Einstein College of Medicine investigating the effect of cyclodextrin on dendritic arborization in murine models of Niemann-Pick Disease Type C. During my gap year, I worked as Office Coordinator for a leukemia physician's outpatient practice at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Since beginning medical school, I have been involved in urology based research aimed at comparing outcomes of single vs. multi port robotic surgery pyeloplasty operations, as well as neuroscience research elucidating the underlying mechanism of rTMS in murine models; both projects are pending publication in the AUA Journal of Urology and Behavioural Brain Research, respectively.
