Undergraduate Research Assistant

Kaitlyn Crutchley is an undergraduate student studying mathematics and biology on the pre-medicine track at the University of Iowa. She is currently a research assistant in the Shinozaki Lab, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa. Her research has primarily focused on delirium in geriatric hospital inpatients. She is interested in helping develop improved diagnostic tools and investigating potential biomarkers of delirium. She has played a key role in bioinformatics data analysis for several research studies with epigenetics and novel bispectral EEG, and she has been already a co-author for articles published in high impact peer review journals including Journal of the American Geriatrics Society and Scientific Reports and several more papers are under review. Kaitlyn is a National Merit Scholar and member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She will be starting medical school in the fall of 2021, and intends to eventually specialize in psychiatry.
