Vice Chair of Clinical Services
University of Miami
The goal of my research career has been the treatment of unmet needs of schizophrenia, such as negative symptoms and cognitive deficits; as well as treatment-resistant schizophrenia. As a clinician, I am currently the director of the adult outpatient clinic at Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital and I am dedicated to treat the wide array of psychiatric outpatient conditions that can be seen in outpatient psychiatric practice. I am dedicated to teach second and third year residents. I have been involved in schizophrenia clinical trials and clinical research in cognition under the supervision of Phil Harvey PhD. I am particularly interested in novel psychopharmacological treatments for cognition and negative symptoms in schizophrenia. After my residency training, I worked for 3 years in an underserved area which kept me far from my research activities. I took back my academic activities when I worked as Adjunct Assistant Professor in Jacksonville, and three years later I resumed my research activities when I came to University of Miami 10 years ago.
