Dr. Tanious completed his undergraduate degree at The College of William & Mary in Operations and Information Systems Management prior to working in management consulting for several years. He subsequently completed his MD at Eastern Virginia Medical School before completing his general psychiatry residency and C-L Psychiatry fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine where he served as Chief Resident. He is currently a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist at Carilion Clinic and an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
