Dr. Weinland has been a Clinical Health Psychologist at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine since 2013. He received his doctorate degree from Illinois Tech and completed his internship at the Miami VA Medical Center, postdoctoral training working for the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. In previous roles he has served as a Clinical Psychologist in the US Army and worked in the Department of Gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Weinland is the primary Clinical Health Psychologist working in transplant at the VCU School of Medicine. He conducts pre-transplant assessments with recipients of heart, liver and kidney transplants and works with patients in therapy for post transplant concerns. The VCU model of transplant emphasizes integration of multidisciplinary specialties to optimize patient evaluation, treatment and outcomes. Dr. Weinland works with a broad team of psychologists, psychology trainees, psychiatrists and social workers to help provide assessment and treatment services to the transplant community.
