Dr. Delane Casiano is an adult psychiatrist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Casiano earned her bachelor’s degree from Brown University, with honors in Health and Society and focus in Maternal and Child Health. Dr. Casiano earned her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine and completed psychiatry residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
With interests in cultural psychiatry and women’s mental health, Dr. Casiano has worked with ethnically diverse populations in a multitude of community settings. Such organizations as the American Psychiatric Association, National Institute of Mental Health, and Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Heath have recognized her clinical and research work examining cultural influences on mental health beliefs among African Americans. Dr. Casiano has held leadership positions in women’s mental health programs, including an integrated care program of psychiatry and obstetrics/gynecology with Penn Center for Women’s Behavioral Wellness and a specialized women’s program with Princeton House Behavioral Health. She has also provided care to adult patients in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient programs in community mental health centers throughout Philadelphia.
Dr. Casiano is a Founding Member and the current President of Global Health Psychiatry, LLC, an organization dedicated to the engagement and empowerment of communities through mental health education and community action. She is co-author of Bree’s Journey to Joy: A Story About Childhood Grief and Depression and Mind Matters: A Resource Guide to Psychiatry for Black Communities.
