Pedro Silvestre Marra is an undergraduate student at the University of Iowa studying Biomedical Sciences under the Pre-Med track. He is part of the Honors and Presidential Scholars Program and is also an International Student Ambassador at the university. He has received a summer research fellowship from the Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates (ICRU) in 2020 and presented at the ICRU Fall Undergraduate Research Festival in the same year. He has worked in the Shinozaki lab (Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics) for almost two years, doing research on delirium. In the lab, he has primarily worked in collecting and analyzing EEG data, collecting patients’ information from medical records, extracting DNA, performing genome-wide DNA methylation analysis, and managing the lab’s web page. His work has already contributed to multiple peer-review publications.
