Psychiatrist James Kimball made the move south from his native New Jersey to continue his medical and academic career. A Drew University undergrad, he graduated from Rutgers Medical School before a residency at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at Medical College of Virginia – Virginia Commonwealth University. Since 2003 he has been at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem and has served in a variety of roles. In 2017 he was named an associate professor of psychiatry. His recent interests have been focused on global health and have included medical work in Mongolia and Macedonia. James credits his wife Sally’s encouragement and his participation in international missions sponsored by the Christian Medical and Dental Association for inspiring him to renew and strengthen his faith. He is active in Holy Family Catholic Church where he serves on the pastoral council and the St. Francis Club, and also serves through his parish’s chapter of the Knights of Columbus.
