Dr Mooneyham completed a combined residency at Indiana University School of Medicine from 2011-2016 (General Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) where she worked as a house staff physician at Riley Hospital for Children. She was Chief Resident (elected) for the General Psychiatry program at Indiana University from 2014-2015 and later Chief Resident (appointed) for the Triple Board program from 2015-2016. After the completion of her training, Dr Mooneyham joined the faculty at Duke (2016-2020) where she served as the Director for the Pediatric Consultation & Liaison Psychiatry Service within Duke Children’s Hospital (2016-2020) and Co-Director for the Pediatric Autoimmune Brain Disorders Program at Duke Children’s Health Center (2018-2020). She also served as the Psychiatry Clerkship Director for the Duke University School of Medicine. Dr Mooneyham has a clinical research interest in Autoimmune Encephalitis and other organic causes of psychosis and catatonia. She has specialty care experience in treating patients with complex autoimmune brain disorders to include Autoimmune Encephalitis, Lupus Cerebritis, Sjogrens, Neuro-Bechet’s, CNS vasculitis, and Neurosarcoidosis. In October of 2020, Dr Mooneyham joined the faculty at the National Institute of Mental Health where she now serves as an attending on the Psychiatry Consultation and Liaison Service in the Clinical Center at NIH. Dr Mooneyham also sees consult patients through the Undiagnosed Disease Program at the NIH and she is actively working on the development of a translational research program specific to Pediatric Autoimmune Brain Disorders.
