There are many clinical, academic, and administrative distinctions between conceptual models of delirium and acute encephalopathy, distinctions that extend beyond terminology alone. Yet each conceptualization provides unique insights into the broader set of acute neurocognitive syndromes. In this plenary session, national and international experts will explore these two models and work toward a harmonized approach to advance research and clinical practice.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will help define the concept of delirium and be aware of interdisciplinary goals for future research.
